REPAIR VS REPLACE PIPE LINING

A town in Connecticut had a drain culvert with two steel corrugated pipes that were deteriorating, along with the concrete headwalls on either side of the road. One horseshoe-shaped steel corrugated pipe 42″ in diameter and the other 15”-diameter round pipe were rotting out and the concrete bulkhead block walls on each side were severely deteriorating. The town needed a solution that could hold up for years to come, was both efficient and cost-effective, and could be installed without shutting down and digging up the road. Savy & Sons proposed that Epoxytec CPP Sprayliner for the headwall repairs and horseshoe-shaped pipe and a Perma-liner Cured-in-place-pipe (CIPP) pipe lining system would be just the solution for the round pipe.

In order for Savy & Sons to perform this project, the river flow had to be bypass pumped and diverted across the roadway while the pipes were rehabbed and lined. Once the flow was diverted, Savy & Sons inspected the damaged pipes using a CCTV camera system to determine the extent of the repairs. After the inspection, we jetted and descaled the pipes to prep for the pipe liner systems to be installed. Once we installed both of the pipe lining systems we made all masonry repairs to the headwalls before finally installing the Epoxytec CPP Sprayliner system at 125 mils thick over the masonry to reinstate its structural integrity and protect against future deterioration.

These repairs came with a Savy standard 10-year warranty and an ASTM-rated minimum lifespan design of 50 years. The roadway never had to be shut down nor was any excavation needed. The entire project was executed in less than three days. The project showcased a phenomenal alternative solution of repair vs. replace.
