The Biggest Signs That Your Sewer Line is Failing
Every day, thousands of sewer lines malfunction or fail. Knowing the signs of a failing sewer line allows you to take prompt action and arrange for a repair with a trusted contractor.
Make sure you are aware of the signs regarding a failing sewer line. If you notice any of the following warnings, give us a call:
Drain Backups
A failed sewer line will not drain the wastewater properly. Instead, the wastewater backs up into plumbing fixtures within the home. Sewage may enter the toilet, bathtub, or sinks. Many homeowners hear gurgling or any other unusual sounds from the drains.
Foul Odors
When wastewater sits in a failing sewer line, the sewer gasses travel through it and enter the home. These gasses release a foul odor that most people find disgusting. Exposure to sewage gasses may cause nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite.
Standing Water/Sinkholes
Leaking wastewater from a failed sewer line oversaturates the soil within a matter of days. A particular area of the yard turns wet, muddy or develops puddles of foul wastewater, even if no precipitation has fallen. In areas with clay soil, oversaturation of the soil exerts a lot of pressure, which may damage a home’s foundation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why Do Sewer Line Inspections Matter?
If a homeowner or business owner experiences frequent backups or is considering buying a new property, a sewer pipeline camera video inspection and written report is the only way to check the integrity of sewer and drain lines. Regular inspections and maintenance can help avoid an untimely sewer line repair. If a repair is needed, with the results of a sewer line inspection, we will find the extent and severity of the problem and its location.
Even if there aren’t any visible issues or problems, there could be something lying underneath that will wreak havoc sooner or later. Call us today to set up a CCTV Camera Inspection!
How do you clean out blockages within the pipe?
Depending on the condition of your pipe, we will decide which or both of the following techniques will be used:
Hydro Jetting/Cleaning
High-pressure water is forced through the pipe to break up and remove grease, sludge, roots and other blockages. This technique will completely remove the debris, but they may return.
Descaling
Especially in cast iron pipes, where the cast iron material rots and deteriorates, also when pipes have build-ups of hardened waste, root infiltration, and other contaminants descaling the pipe will restore the normal flow.
What can you do if your sewer line has failed and needs to be repaired?
If the pipe needs repair, one option is to dig up your yard and install a new pipe. This method is extremely costly, leaves you with a massive mess, and takes 70% longer than our trenchless pipe solution. We offer a no-dig repair alternative called Cured-In-Place-Pipe Lining (CIPP), which is typically a fraction of the cost and the time to repair.
What is CIPP?
As a permanent solution, Cured-In-Place-Pipe Lining (CIPP) is the superior option, ultimately giving you a seamless pipe with no joints. Using the most advanced equipment and longest-lasting materials, we insert a felt liner saturated in epoxy resin that is inverted into the original pipe using air pressure, which then hardens, providing a long-lasting newly lined pipe.
What are the benefits of CIPP?
Trenchless pipe rehabilitation allows pipes to be fixed and plumbing to be restored back in service in a matter of hours without digging up your building’s floors, walls, or house and yard. This method’s minimal invasiveness, speed, accuracy, and precision will benefit you.
