Water Tank Restoration
Savy & Sons is a waterproofing and infrastructure restoration contractor that focuses on media blasting. This treatment process is widely used in a variety of different industries with many diverse purposes. The EcoQuip EQ400t manufactured by Graco, is a wet blasting machine that prepares steel surfaces to be free of grease, dirt, dust, mill scale, rust and paint.
At this commercial building located in Mystic, CT the water holding tank that is part of a cooling system became very rusty having been exposed to many different elements causing the paint to chip and the exterior of the tank to depreciate. The first step to restoring the tank, we used the EcoQuip EQ400t machine – wet blasting an abrasive media that is accelerated through a blasting nozzle by means of compressed air. This gets rid of all the loose debris, chipped paint and rust to be cleared from the tank creating a profile for the epoxy paint to stick to. Prior to wet blasting we wiped the tank down with a solvent to clean off any debris or impurities that might have still been on the substrate. The final step we applied and epoxy paint that is designed to protect steel and concrete in industrial exposures providing a protective coating to the exterior of the tank.
Using the Graco EcoQuip EQ400t machine and the epoxy paint we were able to save the customer from a high replacement costs still giving the water tank that new look and durability.
